The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife and renowned blockchain charity Tokens for Humanity are excited to offer the Ethereum community the opportunity to mint NFTs and plant trees. This limited first generation commemorates the Merge, Ethereum's transition to proof-of-stake. Trees by FNPW and TFH is an evolving open mint project, which means that the campaign is subject to change without notice. Established in 1970, The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife (FNPW) is the charity partner of national parks and wildlife services across Australia. It is a non-government organisation with a mission to safeguard ecosystems, wilderness, and flora and fauna now and for future generations. The foundation is protecting and conserving habitats in the most secure way possible, while making it available for the public to access and enjoy.
Australia's partner charity of national parks and wildlife services across the nation, The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, has teamed up with renowned blockchain charity Tokens for Humanity to give cryptocurrency users the ability to purchase NFTs that plant real-life trees with embedded geolocations to transparently show where their trees have been planted.
Trees by FNPW and TFH is an evolving open mint project, working with local artists and providing time-critical relief in response to ever-changing events such as Australia's recent floods. This means that the campaign is subject to change without notice.
Merge trees is the first campaign in a series which commemorates Ethereum's consensus model upgrade to a greener algorithm which has opened a new world of fundraising possibilities for nature-based charities such as FNPW. It supports efforts to rebuild recently flood-affected areas within Australia.
Each NFT represents a tree to be planted. Each tree planted not only helps to regenerate land and restore flood damaged land, it will sequester on average 2.75 tonnes of carbon over a 25-year life.
This first-of-its-kind NFT collection combines blockchain technology with charitable action, and merges physical and digital realities. NFT holders will have exclusive access to a token-gated impact dashboard that provides detailed information on the campaign, as well as view the real-time location of the trees they have helped plant using embedded geolocations. Additionally, limited edition trees will be released as Sandbox assets, which can be used within The Sandbox platform.

Independent Reserve serves over 250,000 customers in Australia, New Zealand, and globally.
Australia has recently experienced some of the worst flood conditions in decades, which have caused significant damage to the country's landscape and have disrupted replanting efforts from bushfire recovery programs. Flooding can have a devastating impact on the environment, as it can cause acute soil and tree changes due to saturated and inundated soil conditions, physically knock over trees, and lead to chronic problems associated with a changing environment and modified tree reactivity (Coder, 1994).
To help restore and regenerate damaged ecosystems, the trees funded through this campaign will be planted in flood-affected areas across Australia. Join us in supporting efforts to rebuild and protect the environment through the purchase and planting of these trees.
The planted trees will be part of the Plant a Tree for Me initiative, launched in 2015 by the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife. This ambitious conservation program aims to protect and grow natural habitats, which are essential for the survival of our endangered species. Over the past 200 years, more than 75% of Australia's native vegetation has been destroyed or degraded, causing serious impacts on native animals and threatening their survival. By participating in this initiative, you can help restore and protect the country's diverse range of species and make a positive impact on the environment. Read more.
The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife has an ambitious goal to plant 1,000,000 new trees by 2025. This campaign is expected to contribute to that goal by planting an additional 100,000 trees, all of which will serve as everlasting commemorations of the Merge and a reminder of the significant milestone this represents for the planet and the community. These trees will be tagged with location information, allowing you to track their progress and see the positive impact they are making on the environment.
